Patient/caregiver was educated on contraindications for using Requip as follows:
- In the event of any current manifestations of any allergic response with this medication, report it to your physician or other health care personnel immediately, to check regarding your safety with continuing on intake of this medication.
- Requip intake carries the risk of sudden lowering of blood pressure, thus increasing risk for fall or accident. Episodes of hypotension with Requip intake, especially during sudden change of positions, can contribute to the confusion and dizziness the medication can cause, thus contributing to compromised safety. Requip must be used with extreme caution in individuals with history of hypotension, with close watch on the numbers, to prevent risk for fall and accidents.
- Requip use can result in sleep disorders, such as, sudden somnolence, hallucinations, vivid dreams, interrupted sleep, restlessness, and compromised memory. Requip could be avoided or used with extreme caution in individuals with history of narcolepsy, an irresistible desire to fall sleep, as it can increase risk for narcoleptic attacks significantly.
