Central nervous system side-effects
- Ropinirole can induce some dizziness and make one drowsy. Starting the medication at a low dose and gradually increasing the dose, to help optimum control of your symptoms, can contribute to reducing the risk for side-effects of drowsiness, dizziness, and hypotension due to the medication.
- Ropinirole use can result in sleep disorders, such as, sudden somnolence, hallucinations, vivid dreams, interrupted sleep, restlessness, and compromised memory. Sudden somnolence can be serious and life-threatening, especially in individuals with history of narcolepsy, which is an irresistible desire to fall sleep.
- Ropinirole use carries risk of deterioration of mood disorders and worsening of clinical symptoms of mood disorders. Individuals can present with complaints such as, feeling low and depressed, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, gross appetite changes, impulsiveness, agitation, aggression, and suicidal thoughts.
