Patient/caregiver was educated on the side-effects of using Pregabalin as follows:

Cardiovascular side-effects

  1. Pregabalin carries the risk of lowering the blood pressure. Hypotension can lead to episodes of confusion and dizziness, thus contributing to and increasing the risk for fall and accidents.
  2. Pregabalin also carries the risk of causing and/or aggravating some underlying cardiac arrhythmias leading to severe debility and death. Individuals can present with episodes of chest pain, rapid heart rate, palpitations, dizziness, and shortness of breath.

Hematologic side-effects

  1. Pregabalin carries significant risk of lowering the platelet count and result in episodes of easy and unexplained bleeding. Individuals, secondary to Pregabalin intake, can present with easy bruising and small purple patches on the skin due to reduced clotting ability of blood and episodes of poorly controlled bleeding into the skin.
