Patient/caregiver was instructed upon therapeutic uses of Tofranil as follows:
Schizophrenia and psychosis
- Tofranil can be used to control the agitation and anxiety and slowdown the racing thoughts associated with schizophrenia and psychosis.
Bipolar disorder
- Tofranil can be used along with other antipsychotics for management of symptoms of bipolar disorder.
Anxiety
- Inhibition of serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake with Tofranil contributes to improved relaxation, promotion of feelings of contentment and happiness.
- So, Tofranil can be used for mood enhancement and management of agitation and anxiety.
